Johnny On The Spot: David Moyes' spolier tactics against Manchester City finally lie in tatters after his limited side came up against a City team not only prepared to mix it, but also capable of going up that extra gear to see the job done...This is as massive a three points as massiveness can get for Roberto Mancini and is without a doubt The Blues most satisfying result of the season to date...Everton were sent out to harrass, hassle and hit City's midfield hard and they achieved moderate success in stifling The Citizens creativity as the inevitable yellow cards built up. Backed by the desperate, shrieking travelling compliment of "where were you when you were shit?" the stage was set for another Everton great escape...But Mancio's inspired decision on the hour to introduce the menacing Mario Balotelli signalled a sea change in the game that could have registered a goal blitz as Everton's legs went. As it stands the packed arena had to make do with a superb Balotelli strike and David Silva, despite being battered all afternoon rising above it all to make sure of the points with another moment of brilliance in setting up Jimmy Milner...Bayern Munich next. From classless opponents to top class opponents in a matter of days. Bring it on.

Happy days, great result. Inspired substitutions from Mancini. It's about time we got that monkey off our back. Forza Mancini

The long list of yellows on the right hand side gives you a good indication as to what Gollum's tactics were. Filthy players, got their just desserts

Speaking of just desserts - Timmy "filthy" Cahill certainly got a huge dose of karma today.

Moyes...“If I could have had one of Man City’s forwards, if I could have had Silva, or Nasri, or Dzeko, or Aguero playing for Everton then I would play completely different. I’m only asking for one of them, that’s four of them.”

Moyes is a *****. He has some decent attacking players in Saha, Drenthe and Velios, yet he leaves all three on the bench.

Great result and fully deserved City - Silva was the target for the cloggers all afternoon but Merlin had the last laugh.

Hard to watch at times as they came for a draw but the problem with that idea is when it backfires, you're screwed. You could sense the frustration building but Mario's goal was the perfect tension reliever. Moyes has no dignity or grace at all - Ferguson's successor at the swamp?

the spoiling tactics that Moyes employs are a joke, the referee let Howard take too long on goalkicks, when they were drawing and when we went 1-0 up the speed he was taking then was if he had some steroids or something cos he was a man possesed, does he need a drug test? still the right team won and the 'mickey mousers' go home with nowt, makes a change dont it?

Great win Gents - while I don't enjoy how you've splashed the cash to win titles and champions leagues - it sure is exciting to know a new team could win the league this year...in a twisted way, I'm rooting for you.

Good report JB ...thought we should have seen some red amongst those yellow cards .....Rodwell on Silva should have been a GBH charge at least...

I see MOTD had its usual skewed highlights why did they bother?

Very pleased to see the back of Everton. They came with a game-plan which very nearly worked. Well done City (have it!).
