| Johnny On The Spot: Fortress Etihad has finally been breached. This certainly wasn't the ding-dong contest that a legion of pundits predicted. City were ultimately undone by a deflected free kick following a stirring Carlos Tévez led comeback that once again led to a huge outpouring of relief from the Stretfords...Prior to that, an erratically refereed game which was firmly in The Blues hands at the start saw the Champions concede two soft goals against a rags side that looked there for the taking and here for the point...It was only after Roberto Mancini replaced Mario Balotelli, who alongside Yaya Touré and Samir Nasri put in a pisspoor shift that City came alive with venom and in point of fact had they taken their chances would have won this game with the rags firmly on the ropes and arguing amongst themselves in defence...Ironically it was El Apache, charging about like a man possessed who conceded the Van Persie freekick that Nasri helped in. Were City to have had Tevez's warrior application involved from the start, it's clear we'd have been looking at a very different outcome...But for this correspondent, regardless of that fact, City's midfield as a collective failed us today and the need for a midfield general is becoming acute. The defence, which was expertly marshalled by 19 year old Matija Nastasic was often left unprotected and this has been a key element in dropped points so far this season. And points of course is what it's all about. We're back to 6 points behind Stretford again but a long winter is yet to be crossed and as they were reminded again today, City aren't ever going to go away meekly into the night again. How long before the standard "and of course remember that U*d are always stronger in the second half of the season" gets wheeled out.?
It ain't over 'til it's over. Long way to go yet but it is difficult to beat a team like U*d when you are not playing with the same number of players. We were let down by Nasri, Mario and Yaya today. Not sure they should look Zaba in the eye after the game.

Unlucky fellas unbeaten run had to end and the home record too in the words of Balotelli "why is it always UTD " ,plucky come back to get to 2--2 but a fantastic piece of class for the winning goal money well spent . Happy days and merry Xmas to you all Can wait for the return leg .HO HO HO

Skoorb, completely agree. I've sometime thought the same this season even when we've won. Mario, for me, will never be 'a City player'. Yaya would leave today if he could and Nasri is an enigma to me. On the unbeaten run, perhaps we can now start concentrating on winning games rather than not losing games (home & away). IMHO!

Humilated in CL, beaten on home turf by their biggest rival this season is getting better and better, just hope they dont sack Mankini, he is the Arsene Wenger of Manchester. ok they are 6 points ahead, but there's still 22 matches to go, so time to pull it back, as taggart says'' lose more than 5 matches and kiss the title goodbye'' so manure can lose only 2 more, so no pressure then eh lads? where as we can lose 3 more and still win the title, as we have not lost at all till today, so onwards and upwards....
